Para garantir que nossa pesquisa esteja alinhada aos desafios atuais e se baseie em sucessos anteriores, realizamos Levantamentos de Recursos Naturais com produtores de algod\u00e3o dos EUA em 2008, 2015 e 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Essas pesquisas tamb\u00e9m servem para demonstrar a sustentabilidade do cultivo de algod\u00e3o e a melhoria cont\u00ednua do setor, fornecendo dados para avalia\u00e7\u00f5es do ciclo de vida. Este artigo aborda especificamente quest\u00f5es relativas \u00e0 ado\u00e7\u00e3o de tecnologia agr\u00edcola de precis\u00e3o pelos produtores de algod\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>Agricultores de todos os estados produtores de algod\u00e3o participaram das pesquisas, e a propor\u00e7\u00e3o de respostas geralmente correspondia \u00e0 \u00e1rea cultivada em cada estado (por exemplo, o Texas, com a maior \u00e1rea plantada de algod\u00e3o, teve o maior n\u00famero de respostas, seguido pela Ge\u00f3rgia, que tem a segunda maior \u00e1rea plantada).<\/p>\n<p>Em todas as pesquisas, os respondentes representaram pelo menos 91.000 acres plantados no ano da pesquisa. Observe que a regi\u00e3o \u00e9 mencionada em alguns casos nestes resultados e \u00e9 definida como: Extremo Oeste: CA, AZ, NM; Sudoeste: TX, OK, KS; Centro-Sul: MO, AR, MS, LA, TN; e Sudeste: AL, FL, SC, NC, VA.<\/p>\n<h2>Tecnologias em alta<\/h2>\n<p>Em todas as pesquisas, os produtores foram solicitados a classificar 29 preocupa\u00e7\u00f5es de produ\u00e7\u00e3o como graves, moderadas ou irrelevantes. A principal preocupa\u00e7\u00e3o nas tr\u00eas pesquisas foi o custo de produ\u00e7\u00e3o do algod\u00e3o. No entanto, como os produtores n\u00e3o podem controlar os custos dos insumos, as tecnologias de precis\u00e3o tornam-se essenciais. Essas tecnologias ajudam a garantir que apenas o necess\u00e1rio seja aplicado, evitando o desperd\u00edcio de dinheiro.<\/p>\n<p>Consequentemente, houve um aumento no uso de diversas tecnologias, com exce\u00e7\u00e3o da amostragem de solo, que permaneceu constante em 46%, conforme ilustrado na Figura 1. Na pesquisa de 2023, apenas 4% dos respondentes relataram n\u00e3o utilizar tecnologias de precis\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c9 importante observar que o mapeamento e a amostragem de solos mencionados aqui referem-se ao uso de amostras para avaliar a variabilidade espacial dentro da \u00e1rea, e n\u00e3o \u00e0 amostragem geral do solo. Para determinar os \u00edndices de fertilidade, 771% dos entrevistados indicaram que utilizam as recomenda\u00e7\u00f5es de an\u00e1lise de solo.<\/p>\n<p>A utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o da tecnologia de dire\u00e7\u00e3o autom\u00e1tica aumentou significativamente ao longo do tempo. Em 2008, apenas 461 mil toneladas de agricultores a utilizavam, mas em 2015 esse n\u00famero subiu para 691 mil toneladas e, em 2023, atingiu 861 mil toneladas. Essa tend\u00eancia de crescimento demonstra a crescente depend\u00eancia dos agricultores em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 dire\u00e7\u00e3o autom\u00e1tica.<\/p>\n<p>Da mesma forma, a ado\u00e7\u00e3o de tecnologias de dire\u00e7\u00e3o aut\u00f4noma e monitoramento de produtividade est\u00e1 alinhada com as conclus\u00f5es de uma pesquisa realizada pelo Servi\u00e7o de Pesquisa Econ\u00f4mica do USDA sobre a ado\u00e7\u00e3o da agricultura de precis\u00e3o em fazendas dos EUA. A pesquisa abrangeu diversas commodities, incluindo algod\u00e3o, nos anos de 2000, 2003, 2007 e 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Em ambos os estudos, as taxas de ado\u00e7\u00e3o de monitores de rendimento e dire\u00e7\u00e3o aut\u00f4noma aumentaram. No entanto, a ado\u00e7\u00e3o da dire\u00e7\u00e3o aut\u00f4noma foi muito maior do que a dos monitores de rendimento. Como mostra a Figura 1, o aumento na ado\u00e7\u00e3o da dire\u00e7\u00e3o aut\u00f4noma superou o de todas as outras tecnologias e pr\u00e1ticas consideradas.<\/p>\n<p>O piloto autom\u00e1tico est\u00e1 se tornando padr\u00e3o em novos equipamentos e requer prepara\u00e7\u00e3o m\u00ednima em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com outras tecnologias. Espera-se que o aumento do uso de modems sem fio em equipamentos agr\u00edcolas impulsione a ado\u00e7\u00e3o de outras tecnologias, quando n\u00e3o for mais necess\u00e1rio transportar cart\u00f5es de mem\u00f3ria do escrit\u00f3rio para o equipamento.<\/p>\n<p>Al\u00e9m disso, novas t\u00e9cnicas de an\u00e1lise de dados est\u00e3o automatizando a interpreta\u00e7\u00e3o de mapas de solo e produtividade. Consultores em ci\u00eancia de dados agr\u00edcolas tamb\u00e9m est\u00e3o se tornando dispon\u00edveis para auxiliar os agricultores a maximizar o valor de seus dados.<\/p>\n<p>H\u00e1 evid\u00eancias de que a maior facilidade de uso e as op\u00e7\u00f5es de instala\u00e7\u00e3o de f\u00e1brica facilitar\u00e3o a ado\u00e7\u00e3o futura de tecnologias, como demonstrado pela ado\u00e7\u00e3o regional de monitores de rendimento na Figura 2.<\/p>\n<p>Os n\u00edveis de ado\u00e7\u00e3o de monitores de rendimento em 2015 foram correlacionados com o uso de m\u00f3dulos redondos, conforme relatado em uma pesquisa sobre o custo de descaro\u00e7amento de algod\u00e3o em 2016 (Valco, TD, H. Esse aumento ocorreu porque os monitores de produtividade s\u00f3 se tornaram dispon\u00edveis como op\u00e7\u00e3o de instala\u00e7\u00e3o de f\u00e1brica com a introdu\u00e7\u00e3o das colheitadeiras modulares.<\/p>\n<p>Entretanto, prev\u00ea-se que a crescente implementa\u00e7\u00e3o de tecnologias de coleta de dados em equipamentos agr\u00edcolas levar\u00e1 a um aumento futuro na ado\u00e7\u00e3o dessa tecnologia.<\/p>\n<p>A pr\u00f3xima etapa da agricultura de precis\u00e3o dever\u00e1 ser influenciada pelos avan\u00e7os nas tecnologias de automa\u00e7\u00e3o. A automa\u00e7\u00e3o, que envolve o uso de m\u00e1quinas para realizar tarefas automaticamente sem interven\u00e7\u00e3o humana, tem o potencial de melhorar significativamente a efici\u00eancia e a precis\u00e3o nas pr\u00e1ticas agr\u00edcolas. Um exemplo disso \u00e9 a integra\u00e7\u00e3o da tecnologia de tratores aut\u00f4nomos.<\/p>\n<p>Essa tecnologia pode agilizar tarefas como plantio, pulveriza\u00e7\u00e3o e colheita. Como resultado, essas tarefas podem ser executadas com maior precis\u00e3o e efici\u00eancia. No entanto, embora a automa\u00e7\u00e3o ofere\u00e7a in\u00fameros benef\u00edcios, \u00e9 importante considerar seu impacto no emprego na agricultura.<\/p>\n<p>A pesquisa de 2023 introduziu novas perguntas aos produtores de algod\u00e3o sobre as vantagens e os desafios do uso de tratores aut\u00f4nomos em suas fazendas. Mais de 501 mil entrevistados relataram a economia de m\u00e3o de obra como um dos benef\u00edcios esperados dos tratores aut\u00f4nomos.<\/p>\n<p>Al\u00e9m disso, o estudo 41% citou a melhoria da efici\u00eancia, o 28% destacou a redu\u00e7\u00e3o da exposi\u00e7\u00e3o dos trabalhadores e o 34% considerou que a tecnologia n\u00e3o trazia benef\u00edcios. Enquanto isso, \u00e9 prov\u00e1vel que os produtores que j\u00e1 investiram em equipamentos de grande porte (por exemplo, pulverizadores com barras de 36 metros) vejam benef\u00edcios m\u00ednimos com a elimina\u00e7\u00e3o do operador de tais m\u00e1quinas.<\/p>\n<p>Est\u00e3o em curso pesquisas para determinar se \u00e9 poss\u00edvel obter maiores benef\u00edcios com a automa\u00e7\u00e3o atrav\u00e9s da redu\u00e7\u00e3o do tamanho dos equipamentos, tornando-os mais escal\u00e1veis para a tarefa e o tamanho do campo. Al\u00e9m disso, ter v\u00e1rios equipamentos menores reduz o risco de tempo de inatividade.<\/p>\n<p>No entanto, quando um equipamento de grande porte apresenta defeito, a produ\u00e7\u00e3o em centenas de hectares por dia \u00e9 perdida. O dimensionamento do equipamento provavelmente depender\u00e1 do equil\u00edbrio entre o n\u00famero de unidades que precisam ser gerenciadas, a tarefa a ser conclu\u00edda e o tamanho e formato m\u00e9dios dos campos na fazenda.<\/p>\n<h2>Obst\u00e1culos aos tratores aut\u00f4nomos<\/h2>\n<p>De modo geral, as respostas foram consistentes em todas as regi\u00f5es, exceto em rela\u00e7\u00e3o aos obst\u00e1culos no campo e \u00e0s preocupa\u00e7\u00f5es com o transporte entre as lavouras. A maior preocupa\u00e7\u00e3o no Sudeste e no Centro-Sul provavelmente se deve \u00e0 maior presen\u00e7a de corpos d&#039;\u00e1gua e \u00e0s mudan\u00e7as topogr\u00e1ficas que afetam as lavouras nessas regi\u00f5es, em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com o Sudoeste e o Extremo Oeste. A tecnologia de dire\u00e7\u00e3o aut\u00f4noma (autosteer) apresentou um aumento significativo no uso, indicando uma tend\u00eancia para uma agricultura mais eficiente.
