Lanc\u00e9 en Afrique et au Proche-Orient, il y a connu un vif succ\u00e8s pendant six ans.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019Organisation des Nations Unies pour l\u2019alimentation et l\u2019agriculture (FAO) a lanc\u00e9 aujourd\u2019hui la version am\u00e9lior\u00e9e lors du 2e Dialogue de Rome sur l\u2019eau et du Symposium mondial sur les sols et l\u2019eau.<\/p>\n<p>WaPOR, acronyme de \u201c Water Productivity through Open access of Remotely sensed derived data \u201d, fournit aux utilisateurs des donn\u00e9es satellitaires actualis\u00e9es pour surveiller la quantit\u00e9 d&#039;eau utilis\u00e9e en agriculture, notamment pour l&#039;irrigation.<\/p>\n<p>Cela permet \u00e9galement de calculer les avantages \u00e9conomiques d&#039;une utilisation plus efficace de chaque goutte d&#039;eau. Cela permet de d\u00e9terminer l&#039;efficacit\u00e9 de notre utilisation de l&#039;eau pour la culture des plantes.<\/p>\n<p>Cela peut s&#039;av\u00e9rer utile \u00e0 bien des \u00e9gards. Cela peut contribuer \u00e0 d\u00e9finir des r\u00e8gles concernant notre consommation d&#039;eau et \u00e0 fixer son prix. Cela peut \u00e9galement conseiller les agriculteurs sur les p\u00e9riodes et les quantit\u00e9s d&#039;eau n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 l&#039;irrigation de leurs cultures. De plus, cela peut aider \u00e0 d\u00e9terminer la quantit\u00e9 d&#039;\u00e9nergie requise pour le pompage de l&#039;eau, ce qui influe sur son co\u00fbt.<\/p>\n<p>WaPOR est tr\u00e8s utile pour \u00e9valuer le surco\u00fbt ou le b\u00e9n\u00e9fice li\u00e9 \u00e0 l&#039;utilisation de l&#039;eau. Cela peut aider les d\u00e9cideurs politiques et les petits agriculteurs \u00e0 faire des choix plus judicieux. Parfois, r\u00e9duire sa consommation d&#039;eau n&#039;est pas forc\u00e9ment la meilleure solution.<\/p>\n<p>Par exemple, au Liban, la culture de pommes de terre de printemps est plus rentable que celle du bl\u00e9, m\u00eame si elle consomme davantage d&#039;eau. Il s&#039;agit d&#039;un choix difficile entre assurer une alimentation suffisante et g\u00e9n\u00e9rer des revenus. WaPOR peut vous aider \u00e0 calculer le potentiel de gain li\u00e9 \u00e0 votre consommation d&#039;eau, ce qui peut faciliter ce type de d\u00e9cision.<\/p>\n<p>Mais WaPOR ne se contente pas d&#039;utiliser des cartes. Il analyse aussi la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 du terrain. S&#039;il constate que certaines exploitations agricoles utilisent l&#039;eau de mani\u00e8re optimale, tandis que d&#039;autres ont plus de difficult\u00e9s, il peut aider \u00e0 comprendre les strat\u00e9gies des exploitations performantes.<\/p>\n<p>De nombreuses organisations importantes, comme la Banque mondiale et la Banque africaine de d\u00e9veloppement, utilisent WaPOR pour leurs projets.
